SwitchOn – Technology in public services

SwitchOn is PA Consulting Group’s new publication for Government scientists and policy makers. SwitchOn is a collection of detailed articles on different aspects of science and technology – with this edition including pieces on new technologies, technologies crossing sectors, and technology innovation.

We believe that science and technology are becoming increasingly important across Government.

At strategic level this is shown by Lord Sainsbury’s recent review of UK science and innovation and the Science Reviews being conducted by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS).

At an operational level more and more departments are looking for science and technology to address policy issues. Already DNA analysis, biometrics, cameras, telematics and wireless technologies (amongst others) are being used to deliver policy goals.
