New technology inevitably creates interest. From shiny new pieces of lab automation to revolutionary computational modelling tools, we are surrounded by novel technologies demanding attention.

Whether it’s a new drug development ethos or simply a piece of online analysis equipment, an apparently interesting development cannot make its way onto a profit and loss sheet any more than it can be placed on a resume; the fact is intrinsic value cannot be directly derived from an intriguing appearance.
