Chris Steel, head of IT in the US at PA Consulting Group, is quoted in the Financial Times ‘The Connected Business’ report. Chris comments on the benefits and importance of teaching all employees to get the most from sophisticated IT.
Chris says: “There will always be people who, for whatever reason, don’t have the setting right on their laptop or headset and unless you follow up, they will treat the experience as a bad one and drop the technology.
“Training is not something you do at a point in time so much any more, training is much more a continuous activity. The important thing is that we train people to do their job and we train them to run a business process. Information technology is part of it, but it’s not the be all or end all or the end game. So it’s not about maximising the use of IT, it’s really about making sure IT is being used most effectively and appropriately in support of the business.”
