The hallmark of progressive government is often visible in the state’s ability to support unemployed working age citizens and to ensure they gain the skills needed to sustain a lifetime of employment. This has never been more critical than now – in the midst of global economic turmoil. We believe that Employment and Skills are inextricably linked and are key to freeing unemployed citizens from the ‘benefits trap’ and lifting the most vulnerable in society out of poverty.
There is a clear imperative for the Government to:
-
reduce the costs of delivering employment related support to citizens
-
improve work-related skills to make the currently employed working age population more productive, and the unemployed more capable of progressing into work
-
minimise periods of unemployment to ensure citizens retain a work-focused mindset.
Our work spans the public and private sector in the UK and the Republic of Ireland and covers all elements of the employment and skills spectrum; from the Work Programme currently being developed, to the development of targeted training courses, and linking these with the initiatives delivered by the Government and its key agencies.
PA has the knowledge, experience and practical insights to help government and its suppliers to respond to these challenges. We also understand the importance of setting the right vision for the future by integrating employment and skills policy with wider economic objectives, and incubating the skills necessary for innovation and enterprise.
