Local government and communities

"PA's help ensured that we achieved an excellent outcome from the eAuction and gave us confidence at every step."

Mark Ellis, Procurement and Partnership Project Manager, Sheffield City Council

Helping local government thrive

Public sector spending cuts, cost reduction pressures, uncertainty over the impact of policies such as new localism and the big society set in the context of a new coalition government are just some of the challenges facing local leaders. Yet local government is expected to meet the increasing expectations and varied needs of citizens.

Greater citizen focus including personal choice and devolved powers means local bodies are increasingly adopting a customer perspective. The focus on cost also emphasises delivering joined up and cost-effective services to the community. Managing customer demand is vital if local bodies are to deliver more for less without impacting front-line services.

At PA we not only understand the challenges facing our clients but help them achieve their vision, responding pragmatically to current conditions and future changing needs. Using a capability based approach our High Performing Council (HPC) model ensures client organisations build the right skills and structure to help them achieve their true potential. Where necessary, we also help them find and commission capabilities from others partners.

The graphic below covers every aspect of work that may be needed to build council capability.
