Delivering defence transformation

The defence community faces significant challenges. Ongoing operations, severely constrained budgets and the need for radical performance improvement in acquisition and programme management are currently driving defence agendas around the world. Indeed, many of the key defence transformation themes that have shaped the UK's Strategic Defence and Security Review, from cyber security and closer international collaboration to acquisition reform and a new Defence Industrial Strategy, are common to other nations.

• increase efficiency and position for growth, transforming profitability through performance improvement, cost reduction, restructuring, development of support services and new market and supply chain strategies

• enhance performance through partnering and collaboration between government and industry to transform service and capability delivery and develop long-term strategic relationships

• adapt to address changing threats by assessing strategic priorities and determining how best to redirect policy, investments and forces to meet new challenges from unstable regions, rogue actors, havens and insurgents.
